This Trade Ethics Code sets out the principles and standards that guide BlueHarvest Exchange operations and relationships with all participants in the seafood supply chain. All marketplace participants are expected to adhere to these principles.

1. Introduction

At BlueHarvest Exchange, we believe that responsible business practices are essential for the long-term sustainability of the seafood industry. Our Trade Ethics Code establishes the principles that guide our operations and our relationships with suppliers, buyers, fishing communities, and other stakeholders.

This code reflects our commitment to fair trade, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility. It applies to all participants in the BlueHarvest Exchange marketplace and supports our mission to build a transparent, efficient, and trusted fish trading ecosystem in India.

2. Fair Business Practices

We are committed to fair and transparent business practices that build trust across the marketplace:

  • Transparent pricing and fee structures
  • Fair compensation for suppliers and fishermen
  • Equal access to marketplace opportunities
  • Prohibition of price manipulation and anti-competitive behaviour
  • Timely payments to suppliers in accordance with agreed terms

Fair business practices create a more sustainable marketplace for everyone involved and strengthen long-term partnerships across the supply chain.

3. Environmental Sustainability

We are dedicated to promoting sustainable fishing practices and reducing environmental impact:

  • Promotion of sustainable fishing practices and responsible sourcing
  • Compliance with fishing quotas, licensing requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Reduction of bycatch and minimisation of marine ecosystem impact
  • Minimisation of carbon footprint in logistics and cold chain operations
  • Commitment to reducing plastic use and packaging waste where practicable

Environmental sustainability is essential for the long-term viability of the seafood industry and the health of our oceans.

4. Social Responsibility

We are committed to the well-being of people throughout our supply chain:

  • Zero tolerance for forced labour and human trafficking
  • Fair working conditions across the supply chain
  • Support for fishing communities and local economies
  • Respect for workers' rights, dignity, and safety
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion in our business relationships

The strength of our business depends on the well-being of the communities and individuals who contribute to it.

5. Product Integrity

We maintain high standards for product quality, safety, and authenticity:

  • Accurate species identification and labelling
  • Truthful representation of product origin, grade, and quality
  • Rigorous quality control and food safety standards
  • Traceability from catch to buyer wherever operationally feasible
  • Prohibition of seafood fraud, mislabelling, and deliberate misrepresentation

Product integrity is essential for customer trust and for protecting the reputation of our marketplace.
